Itinerary:
One of the most incredible excursions you can take while visiting Merzouga is a day trip to the Sahara desert. We will meet you at your hotel at 10 a.m. the next morning to board an SUV for a journey into the Sahara. Our journey begins with a visit to the town of Hassi Labied and its gorgeous oasis, which has been irrigated for years by an amazing irrigation system and learn about this well-organized system. The oasis is home to palm trees, almonds, and olives.
Then, while capturing stunning photos and delighting in the panoramic vistas, we will zoom across the golden Erg-chebbi dunes. We will stop in the middle of the Sahara to have tea with a nomadic family in their tent, which serves as their winter residence, and observe the nomads herding sheep and goats. After a peaceful night with nomads, we will drive and look for aquatic animal fossils in the desert.
Because there are innumerable fossils still there and the Sahara was once an ocean 7 million years ago. Following that, we’ll go to the Khamlia hamlet, which is inhabited by individuals with dark complexion who originally hail from South African nations since their forebears were sent there as slaves. Visit Dar Gnawa and take in their captivating music.Long a part of traditional rituals, the mesmerizing, rhythmic music has developed an entire genre that is played all throughout Morocco and has served as the inspiration for a number of music festivals.
Join a local family for lunch at their house in the afternoon. Before returning to your hotel, where our great tour sadly comes to an end, drive out of the hamlet to visit the amazing lake in the middle of the desert, which is home to numerous migratory species during the wet season, such as pink flamingos.
